Habitat for Humanity

We rolled up our sleeves and joined forces with Habitat for Humanity this year! Similar to BVM, Habitat for Humanity focuses on bringing people together in local communities. We had over 40 employees participate in various Habitat projects this year, including volunteering at their local Habitat ReStore and working directly on build sites for future Habitat homes. 

“I’ve been wanting to volunteer with Habitat for literally decades,” said one employee. “I was so happy when I heard we were going to have the opportunity to do this. It’s been years in the making for me.” Another employee shared, “I had no idea I’d get to use real power tools, but I was using an electric saw and doing it all! I’m so glad I got to be a part of it.”

Feeding America

In March, BVM employees sorted food and packaged meals through Feeding America. With several shifts in two locations, our employees packed over 14,891 pounds of food, totaling over 15,000 meals for the organization to distribute. Today, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the leading local hunger-relief organization in the state.

Summit Educational Association

Over 50 students from Summit Educational Association came to visit BVM’s Home Office over the summer! They had speakers, including CEO Kevin O’Brien, an office tour, lunch, and a Q&A panel with BVM Directors. Summit is a non-profit serving economically disadvantaged Milwaukee students to support academic excellence and character development.

Hunger Task Force

Over the holiday season, our Home Office turned into a hub of generosity, collecting food for the Hunger Task Force and raising over $1,600 for our annual food drive! The generosity of our staff provided valuable food assistance to the local Milwaukee area.

These are just a glimpse of the countless ways our amazing team members gave back in 2023. Their unwavering dedication to making a difference is what truly defines our culture. We’re excited to continue our commitment to giving back in 2024, with even more exciting initiatives and partnerships in the pipeline. We had 10 BVM employees take home awards in this year’s American Graphic Design Award competition. The American Graphic Design Award is GDUSA’s flagship contest open to every­one in the community and recognizes the vital role of design in business and society. This GDUSA competition had over 8,500 entries and only the top 10 percent were selected as a winner.

“I’m thrilled that our Design Team and Marketing Team’s dedication and commitment to producing outstanding work is recognized once again with 10 American Graphic Design Awards,” said BVM’s Senior Director of Production, Hilary Sumnicht. “I’m so proud of both teams for pushing themselves each day, and all of the hard work they do.”

This year marks the 60th year of prestigious competitions from GDUSA. Founded in 1963, GDUSA has been a trusted resource for graphic designers, educators, and enthusiasts alike, providing a platform for showcasing exceptional design work and fostering a community of creative professionals. 

These annual competitions celebrate the very best in graphic design, attracting submissions from designers worldwide. BVM earned four prestigious awards this year in the category of Advertising, Marketing, and Public Relations in this year’s competition. We were also named the Gold Globee winner for Company of the Year, and our CEO, Kevin O’Brien, was named a Gold Globee winner for Executive of the Year and CEO of the Year.

As one of the most-awarded companies in this year’s program, BVM was one of only five companies to be named a Grand Globee winner.

“Winning the Globee Awards is not only a celebration of our achievements, but also a reflection of the unwavering dedication of our team, the strength of our team culture, and the resilience of our business model,” O’Brien said. 

“The horizon looks even more promising, filled with new growth opportunities and innovations. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the esteemed Globee Awards selection committee for recognizing our contributions with these prestigious awards.”

Judges in this year’s competition included leaders such as Vibhi Kant (Director, Product Management at Meta), Vamsi Krishna Parepalli (Senior Manager at Deloitte Consulting), Niravkumar Pandya (Director, Product Development & Innovation at Mastercard), Lidong Liu (Senior Product Designer at Spotify), Prashanthi Ramamurthy (Senior Engineering Manager at Adobe) and many more.
